Glass Fusing on Textured Moulds

Sun January 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$75.00

Tutor: Mary Berkelmans

Ever wondered how to create decorative detail in kiln-fired glass?  Join in this quick and fun project to learn the secret of making a permanent textured imprint in beautiful coloured art glass. You will learn how to prepare the mould, use powder frit to minimise bubbles, the best glass to use, firing temperature and kiln settings.

In this workshop, you will make a flat textured piece which, once fired, you may choose to slump in a suitable mould to create a bowl, tray or plate with amazing detail. The guild has several texture moulds for members’ use in our kilns. Here’s your chance to learn how to use them effectively and, this newly learnt skill will open up so many possibilities for you to use textured glass in, for example, lanterns, platters, windows, wall hangings. You will only be limited by imagination!

Numbers: Minimum 6, Maximum 7

Prerequisite: Ability to score and cut glass and, while completion of beginners fusing and slumping is not essential, prior fusing knowledge is preferred.  Guild membership.

Cost: $75.00 – Includes all materials and one firing of kiln.
