Welcome to the Creative Glass Guild of Queensland
Located in Red Hill, an inner city suburb of Brisbane, we are a community-based, not-for-profit organisation delivering cultural and educational activities since 1979. We promote a range of traditional and contemporary glass art techniques through provision of courses and workshops in Beadmaking, Fusing and Slumping, Glass Painting & Decorating, Leadlight & Copperfoiling, Mosaics, Sandblasting and traditional Stained Glass. We are proud to be the only place in Australia offering such a range of classes under the one roof.
Our courses and workshops are very popular. Beginners classes and most workshops require no previous experience. Great for “learners”! You can enrol and pay online. More information? Check out the various classes available in 2021.
Get ready for “Glass at the Gardens Show & Sale”, July 17 & 18
Last year, the pandemic threw a spanner in the works and the Guild had to cancel our annual Exhibition. But it’s back this year – bigger and better than ever! Now called Glass at the Gardens Show & Sale, the beauty and splendour of glass will be on full display on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 July. Visitors to Mt Coot-tha Gardens Auditorium will be treated to a selection of original glass creations, all hand-made by talented Glass Guild members. Meet local artists, see live demonstrations, sign up for classes, plus opportunities to buy unique glassware, including an assortment of Christmas decorations. Displays include decorative glass beads and jewellery, leadlight windows, mosaic artworks, fused glass creations, copperfoiled pieces, colourful lamps and more. We will be following Covid-safe procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of visitors and Guild members.
