Leadlight & Copperfoiling – Beginners
Tutor: Warren Collins and Denis Reedy
ALERT! This course has been rescheduled to Tuesday evenings not Thursday as originally advertised.
A comprehensive 27-hour course over 9 weeks. It teaches the skills and techniques necessary to continue onto advanced leadlight or copperfoil projects such as larger leadlight window panels incorporating intricate copper foiled designs.
Course includes safety awareness; scoring, breaking and trimming complex glass shapes using running and grozing pliers; accurate cutting of complex glass shapes to a pattern, drawing your cartoon and preparing the jig; leading, soldering and cementing; applying patina and polish for both a leadlight and copperfoil project.
To achieve these skills and techniques, the tutors will provide a selection of designs suitable for beginners to create a 32 x 25 cm leadlight window-style panel. You will also be taught copper foiling techniques to make a small sun-catcher.
Numbers: Minimum 6. Maximum 8
Prerequisite: No experience necessary.
Costs: All materials – clear and coloured glass, chemicals, lead, notes, use of tools, etc. are included. Our beginner courses and workshops have no hidden costs.
