FW1: Fused Aussie Flowers 2025
Tutor: Chris Bell
This 8-hour workshop is held over 2 consecutive Sundays to allow for pre-firing of your glass pieces before creating 6 beautiful Australian flowers. Many pictures of Aussie native flowers will be available for inspiration.
Day 1: The tutor will demonstrate how to create a stock of the unique components of a flower – petals, stamens, stems, leaves of various shapes and sizes. These pieces will be made by scoring and cutting glass. You will be taught how to bend and curl stringers as decoration. You will then prepare the pieces ready for firing and the construction of your flowers the following week.
Day 2: Wash your prepared pieces and build six 7 by 8 cm sized Aussie Floral ‘pictures’. These will be placed in the kiln and fired ready for collection later in the week. At home, you might turn these into a hanging decoration, a pendant, a picture by glueing on backing material and framing, or display as they are.
Numbers: Minimum 6, Maximum 8
Cost: Includes all materials, adhesive and firing fees.
Prerequisite: Glass cutting skills necessary. Note: This workshop is not a replacement for the beginners fusing and slumping course.
