The Creative Glass Guild of Queensland was founded in 1979 as a community-based organisation for people wishing to learn traditional and contemporary glass art techniques.
We operate in the tradition of the medieval craft Guilds, setting and maintaining high standards for the quality and integrity of our training and the goods and services we provide.
We are a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation run on a membership basis and managed by volunteers.
We run courses and workshops in Beadmaking, Fusing and Slumping, Contemporary and Traditional Glass Painting & Decorating, Leadlight & Copperfoiling, Mosaics, and Sand Engraving. We are proud to be the only place in Australia offering such a wide range of classes under one roof.
Newsletters
‘A Touch of Glass’ newsletters are produced three monthly by the Guild. Content covers latest glass news and members’ creations.
Visit our Glass Showcase on 27 & 28 September 2025
Our Creative Glass Showcase provides members with the opportunity to display and sell their handmade glass creations. Held annually in the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens Auditorium, Showcase visitors can see and buy from a large range of individual glass items, all hand made by Guild members.
Live demonstrations are held throughout the weekend, when visitors can see various glass-making techniques, talk to local glass artists about their work, and check out the various courses to get started on the road to glass artistry.
Last year the Showcase had a Christmas theme and there was something for everyone from unique Christmas gifts and ornaments, to glass garden art and a big range of decorative and wearable pieces – all of it showcasing the beauty and splendour of glass!
The 2025 Showcase will be held on Saturday 27 September (9:00am to 4:00pm) and Sunday 28 September (9:00am to 3:00pm). Entry for Adults is $5.00 and Children 12 and under are free.
