BMT1: Glass Bead Making – By the Sea

In this tutorial, you will review basic torching skills before making an ocean-style bead decorated with shells. This tutorial will not only cover the use of a brass press to shape glass, but also the application of surface decoration using silvered stringers and glass chips called murrini. Students will then learn how to manipulate the look of murrini using different techniques to achieve the interesting details on the surface of the Ocean Bead.

Prerequisite: Some experience necessary. Suitable for students who have done some torching or completed a beginner’s course at the Qld Glass Guild or elsewhere of at least 12 hours duration.
