The Beadmaking Studio is available for members’ use when tutors do not require it for courses. If booking Saturday sessions, check calendar to see that a beadmaking course is not being held on that weekend. If there is a clash, your booking will be cancelled, and you will be moved to another date.

Hire Cost for use of Hothead Torch, Fuel and Tools

Initial booking time of 2 hours is $20.00,

If further time is wanted, 1-hour blocks may be booked @ $10.00 for each hour.

NOTE: Hour sessions cannot be booked on their own. The initial 2-hour booking is to be made first.

Payment is made online via PayPal or credit card.

Booking Times

Times are restricted to days when a Guild volunteer is in attendance and has opened Guild for studio access.

  • Monday – 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm
  • Wednesday – 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm
  • Friday – 10:00 am
  • Saturday – 9:00 am, 10:00 am provided a tutor-led beadmaking course is not scheduled. Check calendar.

Requirements before booking use of Beadmaking Studio 

Before booking, ensure you:

  1. Are a current Creative Glass Guild member and have received permission from the tutor that you can safely work independently.
  2. Have completed a beginners beadmaking course or equivalent Guild introductory course.
  3. Are familiar with safe operation of the hothead torches
  4. Have read and understood following:
    • Use of hothead torch, fuel and tools is included. (Use of tutor-only dual fuel torch and oxygen concentrator is NOT.)
    • You are to supply your own glass rods, mandrels, bead release, and container of vermiculite.
    • Glass rods are available for purchase, as per rod/stringer price notice on bead room wall. Pay on day to volunteers in attendance.

Terms and Conditions of Booking Beadmaking Studio

By making the booking you agree to:

  • Sign in and out of the Guild premises using the attendance book.
  • Adhere to the safety guidelines affixed to the bead room wall above sink.
  • Open the window and turn on ventilation while working in the bead room.
  • Return your workstation to a clean and tidy state, including:
    • returning tools to their storage box,
    • safely emptying water wells onto outside lawn using sieve provided and discarding scraps in bead room bin,
    • sweeping work surface with mini dustpan and brush provided,
    • bleeding torch line of gas, and
    • leaving both gas bottle and torch valves firmly in OFF position.

Notify the Guild if a gas bottle has run out during your session by placing a “refill please” label on the tank and contacting us by email.
