Mosaics – BEGINNERS

Tutors: April Araullo and Marianne Bland

In this 18-hour course held over 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings, you will learn skills and techniques necessary to create a beautiful glass mosaic suitable for displaying inside your home or outside in your garden. You choose!  

Learn how to score and cut glass; safety practices when working with glass; and use of various hand tools for cutting glass to a pattern. You will also learn how to use a grinder to refine the shape of your tesserae, and finally, to glue and grout your mosaic for the finished picture.  Tutors will provide a selection of designs suitable to create a 30 x 30 cm hanging mosaic.  Upon completion of the course, you will have not only a beautiful mosaic to take home, but also the knowledge to create your own glass mosaic projects.

When: Wednesdays, 6:00 to 9:00pm (18 hours)

Numbers: Minimum 5, Maximum 6

Prerequisite: No prior experience required.

Cost: Includes all materials – glass, substrate, adhesives and grout, hanging hardware – as well as course notes. Guild beginner courses have no hidden costs!
