DESCRIPTION:This is always an event to look out for!  Visitors can meet Guild tutors and members and hear firsthand about their creative journeys. Visitors then have the opportunity to discover\, explore and enrol in courses that open doors to the wonder of the world of glass artistry. \nThe theme for this year is “Sunburnt Christmas”.  Beautiful glass items relating to the theme will be on display as well as a huge variety of glass art for sale.  Our popular Christmas ornaments will again be available to buy along with the first of a limited number of a Christmas collectable ornament reflecting the theme. One might start collecting these annually? \nEntry is $5.00 for adults and children 12 and under are free. Pay at the door.

DESCRIPTION:Tutor: Katrina Jackson \nWant to enter the wonderful world of fused and slumped glass? \nIn this course\, beginners to glass and those with some experience\, will learn processes required to create a beautiful fused and slumped glass piece to take home.  Learn how to cut glass\, safety practices when working with glass\, how to prepare glass for kiln firing\, use and care of Guild kilns\, and learn what happens to glass in the fusing and slumping processes.  You will use basic designs supplied by the Guild to make one fused glass project. \nOn completion of this course and if you become\, or are a member\, you will be able to book Guild kilns to work on your own projects. \nNote: Our beginner courses have no hidden costs. \nNumbers: Minimum 5\, Maximum 6 \nPrerequisite: No experience necessary.

DESCRIPTION:Tutor: Lenore Keough \nThis tutorial covers learning new shapes and the application of surface decoration using stringers and rods to sculp various glass forms. Students will be taught the use of a tools and decorative techniques to make three Christmas themed beads. You will review basic torching skills before being taught to make beads of a decorated Xmas tree\, a plum pudding and the head of Rudolf the reindeer. \nNumbers: Minimum 3\, Maximum 5 \nPrerequisite: Students to have done torching or completed a beginners’ course at the Guild or elsewhere of at least 12 hours duration. Confidence in making and shaping simple beads and adding dots in controlled way.
